It's days like today that remind me how lucky I am to have amazing friends. We may be spread around the country - Washington DC, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Charlotte, and everywhere in between, but that doesn't mean we aren't just as good of friends as we ever were.

They are the friends I can call and talk to about my family, my work, my dating life, my doctor's appointments, and every single other thing under the sun and they listen. They ask me questions, they commiserate with me, and then I do the same for them. I feel better every time I talk to one of them, I feel rejuvenated, I feel empowered. I am so proud of them, so thankful for them, so excited for all of the exciting adventures we are all embarking on. Even though it feels like we're doing it by ourselves, it's not the case. My best friends are nothing but a phone call or a plane ride away, and if I needed any one of them, they'd be here with me the second I asked. Because that's what best friends do.

If you have friends like these, you know what I'm talking about. You know that smile you can't wipe off your face when you've hung up the phone, or when you're about to get off an airplane and see them. If you don't have friends like these, find them. Be that kind of friend, and it will be returned to you ten-fold. Friendship is the single most important thing to me; being a good friend, having good friends. .I hope that never changes.

Sunday Night Sobfest

Do ya'll watch Army Wives? It's not often I talk about how much I love a TV show, but Army Wives has me HOOKED. I don't remember when I first started watching it... I guess maybe last summer? There may or may not have been an incident in which I dated a man who was in the army and made him watch episode after episode with me and analyze what was real and what was exaggerated for TV. He really loved that, as evidenced by the fact that we are no longer dating. I didn't really love the fact that he was in the military either - after watching this show, can you blame me?

But I am seriously addicted. And this week's episode? I may have sobbed through the entire thing.

It doesn't help anything that after Army Wives comes this new show called Coming Home, all about deployed soldiers that make surprise returns home to their little kids, or to their son who has had a rockstar senior year of high school playing football, but his dad had to miss it. As he is about to announce where he is going to play college football (Navy), his dad walks in and says, "That's my boy!" His signature words. Killed me.

Thank you, Lifetime, for ensuring that I cry out all my tears on Sunday evening, and also that I don't go to sleep until 11pm.

Jewels

Everyone has their own way of storing and organizing things. I've always been so psyschotic about having my things organized and put away. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older (and acquired more stuff) but I think there are still some things that I hvae pretty well put together. My jewelry is one of them.

I keep it all in my bathroom, on the counter and on the wall. My necklaces have hung in some way shape or form since long, chunky necklaces became popular. When I was in college and living in the sorority house, we stuck pushpins in the wall and hung necklaces on those. Now, they hang on a coat hanger that was spraypainted white. I've moved this thing twice, I just love it. It's perfect, and my collection fits on it perfectly.

I keep my earrings in a glass box that I was given at a sorority function one year in college. I have no idea why I held on to this particular piece of memorabilia - I guess it just seemed too "nice" to throw out or give away, but I'm glad I did it! I keep all of my nice, special jewelry in that box. Anniversary presents from exes, Christmas gifts from the family I babysat for, and pieces I stole from my mom's jewelry box are all kept in my little glass box.

I keep my every day studs on a ring holder on my bathroom counter. I change earrings every day or every other day, and I usually just wear studs to work, so this works out really well because it's so convenient. Plus, it sits inside the tray I re-worked, so if earrings fall off the holder, it's not like they're strewn all over the counter.

The last thing I keep jewelry in is that little pink heart box. My exboyfriend made it for me when we were still dating, and it was really one of the nicer things he did for me. We went on a date to a pottery place, and I made something for myself and he made something for me. It's another one of those things I couldn't really throw it away, so I just keep using it. It's all about practicality people! In there are my nice necklaces that I wear on a regular basis. I have one that my dad bought me in Aruba, my sorority disc on another one, my single pearl and a strand of pearls, plus a few other random necklaces that I wear pretty regularly.

So that's it! That's how I store my jewelry, and I. LOVE. IT. It's taken me a while to perfect it, but I'm really pleased with how I keep things. How do you store your jewelry collection?

At-Bat Music. This is IMPORTANT.

I joined a softball team. It happened way too fast, and I was in the middle of a meeting and my computer was being projected on the screen in front of like, the most important people in my office, and my friend Kate sends me a message that says "Hey! Wanna play softball?" and I just wanted to clear the screen so I typed yes and then minimized because I was overwhelmed and confused and embarassed. Then everyone in the room started laughing at the prospect of me going outside and doing something active, outdoors, in the heat of spring, but that's another story for another time. So now I'm signed up for and playing on a softball team, and I got an email today. This email has sent me into a panic, a tizzy, a whirlwind.

I have to email them with my song of choice to be used as my Walk Out Song. This selection will determine so many things: how many new friends I make, how many old friends I keep, who thinks I am cool, how cool I think I am...so much is riding on this song choice.

Just...no. It's my friend Jason's song - the smelly shoes guy? It won't work.

This was Jason's 2nd suggestion. It's more of what I am looking for, but still not quite there.

Also, when I referenced his stinky feet in a previous post, he had the gall to be pissed at me for not also name-dropping, so here ya go Jase. Ladies, he is still single and looking if you're interested. He enjoys long walks on the beach, dancing like an idiot, and using his preacher voice to make you feel guilty about anything and everything. I love him anyway :)

Just...no.

This is Chipper Jones's walk up song and I could steal it but I think then I'd have a lot to live up to and well..remember when people laughed when I said I was going to play softball? Yeah.

One of my coworkers suggested Hanson. Even though there is no first place currently, this is a close 2nd.

The winner:

If that doesn't pump you up, I'm not sure anything can. Thank you to the biggest pain in the ass I know for the suggestion.

I'll report back on the softball season as it unfolds. Oh yeah, and I'm playing tennis. This could get interesting...

What would you have chosen? Anything I should look at, just in case? I'm a woman, I'm entitled to changing my mind 17 times.

Birthday Wish List

Birthdays are like, the biggest deal to me.

So it comes as no surprise to my family and friends that I have already planned my birthday celebration and come up with a wishlist just in case someone asks me what I want for my birthday. And I may have started thinking about it as soon as the clock struck 2011.

Yes, I still need this

i <3 video games
But I really want Super Mario Galaxy 2. I may or may not have already beat the first one.

ring

Bobeau Dotted Bow Front Top
love this top, especially the bow
I am boring now. I only buy clothes that can serve dual purpose - work & going out.
With a cardigan, this will do both!

Wilson Blade 98 Pink BLX Performance Tennis Racquet - SportsAuthority.com
I started kicking it on the tennis court, clearly now I need an equally badass racket! But really, I just need want a racket that isn't the one I bought 4 years ago with my ex-boyfriend.

Obviously I need this.
Voile Tunic - Sahara Print
I'm not sure but I think I like this

I want a new purse and I just bought myself some delightful new nailpolishes. And really, I'm going to have the best birthday present I can imagine - my mom & dad being in the same city as me on my actual birthday! I really don't think I've spent my actual birthday with them since I turned 20. And, my birthday is the day before Easter, so I'll be able to celebrate however I want! I just really can't wait! Happy almost birthday to me!
