3. I'm so excited - I've joined up and become a guest blogger at bSMART-- this week I'm sharing advice on keeping your resume up to date, among other things. If you liked my series on busines school, I'd highly recommend joining bSMART. I've been seriously impressed!

 

4. Obsessed. I've listened to it approximately 100 times on repeat.

 

 

5. I re-joined Tinder after my traumatic experience. Snowstorms make people crazy, don't judge. So far I've reconnected with a guy I used to date, scheduled a date for next Tuesday, and had penis pictures sent to me. Internet, I love you.

 

6. Running. I'm running again. Thursday, I only ran 3 miles, but I ran them faster than I've ever done. Friday I ran 3 more at the same pace, and I'm hoping to do 4 miles before tennis practice on Saturday morning. My shin pain has miraculously gone away (knock on all the wood)

 

7. It's b-school admittance season and I've adopted the #proudmom hashtag for all my kiddos who are accepted or applying, because I'm basically the proudest mama HR person there ever was. All my kids deserve trophies! The worst part is waiting for 2nd rounds in March, I think my anxiety might be worse than theirs. PS - those are the 2 best kids I've ever known <3 p="">

 

 

 

8. I haven't had a haircut since September, which I promised my new haircut girl I wouldn't do. But I loved, loved, loved my long hair and I wish it would grow this long again.

 

 

  

 9. I graduate from business school in May 2016 and I turn 30 in April 2016. You'll be able to find me in Iceland, Russia, China, and SE Asia in May/June/July 2016. Bye, work! See you in the fall.

10. I'm still happy. So so so so so so so so so happy. I smile just because. I don't even have a reason not to anymore. Let's all just be this happy together!

My Issues with Spotify

Have ya'll joined Spotify yet?



I just did, and now I feel overwhelmed. I think I'm a little confused about how it works, exactly. Everyone keeps telling me it works just like iTunes but I must not be listening or something, because in my head I think that it works more like Pandora except I get to choose. I am feeling intense pressure about the first song I choose to listen to. A) I shared my profile on Facebook so whatever I choose, everyone will know, so I probably shouldn't choose something lame. B) Back to thinking it's like Pandora, the first song I choose will definte my Spotify membership forever, so I better choose wisely.

All this pressure leads me to do nothing but share my ridiculous anxieties on the internet via my blog and never actually get around to listening to music. I have issues, and I guess by the name of this blog you thought I'd keep them a secret. Surprise!

I was talking to a coworker about Spotify, and he then introduced me to Turntable. Great - just when I thought I finally had a grasp on one...another "social music site." What does that even mean?



Now we're in a "group music room" and everybody gets to contribute songs to play and they alternate. I created a list of ~10 songs, but all this pressure of music choices might be too much for me. So far I have played "Take It On the Run," "Edge of Glory," and "Wanna Take You Home." Diverse music tastes, much?

What would be your first song picks? Hopefully you have an easier time choosing than I did.

New Tunes

I was listening to the radio last night on my way home from seeing Bridesmaids and I heard a song that I loved. It sounded really familiar. When it was over, the radio DJ annouced that it was Gloriana's new single, Wanna Take You Home.



I love it! This morning I got to work and promptly turned on my iPod. Typically I just turn on a playlist and let it run for the day, but today I carefully selected an Artist to listen to: Gloriana.

The band holds a special place in my heart. The spring after I graduated from college, their first single kind of became a theme song of sorts for my 4 best friends and I. We listened to it on repeat during roadtrips, on our way out to the bar, while we were getting ready for graduation, and so many other times. And by repeat, I mean 100+ times in a row. Seriously.

Some mornings I wake up to an email from one of those girls with the song lyrics and a simple "miss you, love you" and it warms my heart. No other words - just song lyrics. It kind of reminds me of that movie "Raising Helen" where the oldest sister gets so mad when the sister who passes away leaves Helen a note and all it has is song lyrics. That's how I feel about Wild at Heart - I just get it, and if any of my friends send me an email with just lyrics, I know exactly what they are trying to say.

To say that song brings me back to a place in time is a huge understatement.



I've been listening to their album on repeat all day (why I haven't done this before, I'm not sure) but I love it! All the songs are great, catchy, the singing is phenomenal...I highly recommend! And I hope you all enjoyed my little walk down memory lane.

Musically Inclined

Remember last winter when I went to 2 awesome productions over the span of a week?

I don't know if I told ya'll, but I then listened to the soundtracks on repeat for the next 2 months, or 1/6 of 525,600 minutes. Sorry I'm not really sorry, poor officemate. We have a music out loud policy, and since I own the iPod and iPod player, I get to pick the music. I like to refer to it as Katie's Office Musical. That could make a great televsision show, just sayin'.  I know I've come so far...but I've got so far to go! :)



Finally sometime around late January I decided that I had finally had enough of Rent and Hairspray and added some Wicked into the mix, which prolonged the Katie's Office Musical Hour another 3 weeks or so.

In March I finally laid my "Showtunes" playlist to rest... or so I thought. I made a new playlist with popular songs that were on the radio. Hey Mama, Welcome to the 60's! But it's been less than 2 months and I've switched back over to the Showtunes playlist. You just can't stop the beat.

Anyway, just thought ya'll should know that my secret obsessions are weird and really kind of...obsessive. At least you don't have to listen to me singing along!

Quitter!

I'm quite the country music buff. I love country music. It's simple, direct, to the point, and somehow you can always relate to whatever the artist is singing about. I work in an office that I share with another girl. We're roommates, if you will, and we're roommates that like to jam out. We started with showtunes on Pandora, but when you are actually working 40+ hours a week, the glory of Pandora runs out real quick. Then we switched to Christmas songs. Now I'm on a country kick.

Voices by Chris Young is one of my current favorite songs. I have no idea why. I just like it. The gist of the song is that he hears "voices" telling him how to live his life positively. One line in the song just really pisses me off because I think it's SO UNTRUE.

"My dad saying quit that team and you'll be a quitter for the rest of your life."

Really? REALLY? False false false. Quitting is acceptable. Making a habit of quitting is not okay. But if you really put in 100% effort and you still want to quit? Go for it. I've quit. I quit volleyball my sophomore year of college because it was a waste of my time. I talked to the coach about not playing in a tournament and he said he forgot about me. How do you forget about the girl who is sitting next to you all day being supportive and cheering on her team? How do you forget about the girl who's parents drove from Atlanta to Auburn to see their 20 year old daughter play volleyball, and who brought team snacks? Yeah, see ya. I didn't feel bad about quitting that.



Not me, but close.

So no, Chris Young, quitting a team doesn't make you a quitter for the rest of your life. Get your shit together.
But Mama tells him to say a prayer every time he lays down at night, and grandma says if you find the one, you better treat her right. I agree with all of that. Totally agree.

New Tunes!

I'm a country music lover. It's not a secret, and I'm anything but ashamed. I'm quite proud of how much I enjoy country music! It's up there with how much I love Bud Light, and if you make fun of me for either one, you can consider us no longer friends. Music & beer are serious issues, people.

I wanted to share a few artists I've discovered recently and really enjoyed with my fellow country music lovers :) The last time I did this I didn't have good news to report, so I'm glad that I thought in advance and actually listened to the music before telling you guys about it!

Michael Sarver (left) has a BEAUTIFUL voice. His song Angels Sing brings tears to my eyes. I love his music -- he is so talented, and I'd be shocked if I didn't hear his music on my radio soon!

Jonalee White (right) reminds me of the Dixie Chicks combined with Sara Evans and the sassiness of Miranda Lambert. The songs are catchy, fun, and easy to sing along to. I have no idea how "new" of an artist she is, but she's new to me so hopefully she's new to you too!

Walker Hayes (below) is just plain FUNNY! I fell in love with his music when I was browsing iTunes one night and found myself wishing there was more than 4 songs! Plus, the man is straight sexy. Yum.

So there you have it -- my newest country music finds. Anyone else have any good music finds in the last few weeks? I'll be the first one to admit that I downloaded these as well as some (aka the entire discography) Hannah Montana. I'm still a little confused about when she is Hannah and when she is Miley, but either way I like the music.

Yep -- I like Miley Cyrus and Bud Light. I don't even know what that means.

Woof Woof!

The Dixie Chicks just came on my Pandora station (Sugarland radio!) and it reminded me of some fantastic news I heard the other day!

Two Dixie Chicks, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, have joined together to form new country music group Court Yard Hounds! I got a chance to download the album, and I haven't listened to it yet but I wanted to let ya'll know it's available. As far as I can tell, the Chicks are still a group, and this is just a side project these two wanted to do while waiting for their 3rd partner in crime to prepare for recording a new album.

I know I was a huge Dixie Chicks fan back in the day (my 5th grade imagination got a little carried away with Goodbye, Earl!) and I am so so excited to sit down and give the new album a good listen. Maybe I'll burn it onto a CD and throw it in the car for those mornings when the radio shows do nothing but talk, talk, talk. Does that bug anyone else? I listen to the radio for music, not Miley Cyrus droning on and on about how there are aliens in her backyard.

Yes, that is what I heard on the radio this morning. I promptly changed it to a station playing REO Speedwagon.
