The Wednesday that was more like a Tuesday

I hate Tuesdays, so I'm really unsure how all this went down on a Wednesday. I have about 8000 things I should be doing right now, and just as many thoughts running through my head. So what do I do instead?

Turn on Carrie Underwood, shut my office door, and start writing.

Today's been a day. I made probably the biggest mistake I've ever made at work. I think I am on day 3 of my Las Vegas hangover. I had a great conversation with an MBA Admissions Director that has left me even more excited, nervous, and inspired. I had a run-in with an ex-ish-friend that was reminiscent of an ex-boyfriend run-in. You know, where you cross paths, make small talk, and they make casual mention of a joke only the 2 of you shared and then you think about it for far too long? Welcome to my day.

I stepped away from everything for a minute and got some perspective, but man. It's been a doozy. Days and weeks like this really make me realize how truly fortunate I am though. I can't imagine if I didn't have fantastic friends to run to when not-so-fantastic friends hurt me. Or if I really didn't like my coworkers. Or my job, for that matter. Or if I was being forced to go to classes that didn't interest me.

I was also going to go to a gym tonight and sign up so I could swim in their pool, because that triathlon I'm participating in 6 weeks from now? Haven't trained much this week...sprained ankles and residual hangovers don't lend themselves to 6 mile bike rides or 3 mile runs. But really, first, I need a bathing suit. Preferably not of the $80 variety. TJ Maxx? Sports Authority? It's been a minute since I bought a sports bathing suit. Wah.

So instead I think I'll go to happy hour, go home, and crawl into bed, and hope that tonight I can keep my eyes open past 10pm.

Vegas, work, life... you are winning, but not for long. Don't you worry...

Tuesday. Again. Don't be fooled.

Winning.

Don't be fooled - I haven't actually opened it.

I actually ate that whole bowl of chips.

Don't be fooled, that's not my real hair.

My new favorite food, fried pickles.

No fooling, only pure elation over lavendar cocktail dresses and pearls.

Ritz Carlton.

This is not a joke.

Neither are Tuesdays.

Tuesday, My Old Friend

Were you wondering if I forgot I had a blog?

Oh right, you know me better than that. You probably assumed I had nothing to say.

I know, I know, let's be real, when is the last time that happened?

I can hear my mom from 600+ miles away shouting, "You haven't shut up since the day you started talking!"

Pipe down, mom. Some people don't know me the way you do, and I've got to keep the facade!

But just in case you were wondering where I've been, here's, quite literally, a snapshot view of what I've been doing.

I've been at weddings,

(where my best friend caught the bouquet)

visiting friends in Washington DC,

(where it was a whole hell of a lot warmer than in this picture)

floating down questionably contaminated rivers,

reading books,

(I might have liked it better from the mom's point of view),

food-trucking,

kitty-sitting,
(this is Sugar's internet debut)

perpetuating my leopard print obsession,

and basically pretending to be footloose and fancy free.

The thing is, I'm still busy. But if you noticed, that list was not consumed with things that require me to leave my house, or things that even require me to get out of my pajamas. This is a win-win for everyone, because if I had to do things that required me to leave my pajamas, it would be really awkward when I showed up in XXXL sweatpants and a "Rush Pike 2001" tshirt. Just sayin'.

What have you been doing?

What Sunday Should Look Like

Fishing, hoping to catch more than a rubber tire and a rainboot.

Puppies, who really hope you do catch that rubber tire.

Stella Artois and wine.

Family. Friends. Sunshine.

More Stella, more wine.

Airplanes flying way too low, and the realization that yes, when the sun sets that does in fact mean the earth is moving. However, the earth's movement is not what causes the wind. Just in case you were wondering.

A Chinese food delivery feast.

An incredibly insightful fortune, made that much funnier by the aforementioned glasses of wine and Stella Artois's.

"Try a new hat for a change in looks. Be creative!"

Thanks a lot fortune cookie, you are so helpful.

Goobers.
Thanks to my dear friends for inviting me over, providing me with Stella & wine, and liking me despite my serious sunburn and tennis skirt. Sundays like this one are worth a million shitty Tuesdays.

It's that kinda Tuesday

Funny Workplace Ecard: It feels like a Tuesday.

Tuesdays are without a doubt the worst days of the week.

1. My friend is telling me about how his feet smell and he took his shoes off and therefore his office smells.
2. I work on the 38th floor of my building, and all I can see out the windows right now is fog. Eerie.
3. I went to my first tennis practice last night and somehow managed to pull a muscle in my gluteous maximus in the first 10 minutes.
4. I really, really hate running, and I have started doing "it" again. All I think about is how much I hate it.
5. It's 2:55 and I haven't gotten an email since 2:39. I automatically assume our server is down, or my email is broken, because no one leaves me alone for that long.
6. I have a 6:00 meeting tonight that will probably last until 10pm, and then we'll just repeat it on Thursday.
7. I have to pack for a weekend out of town with a bunch of teenagers because I won't have any other time this week. See #6. Help me, Rhonda.
8. I'm ending on a positive...we ordered some really awesome Thai food for lunch, but now I'm full and sleepy and I can't see anything outside my windows.

Any other Tuesday haters in the house?
